The process

In her mixed media technique, she combines the use of acrylic paint, glass beads, jewelry, feathers and other materials to create art that explores and plays with light and patterns.  She doesn’t have to settle on one medium to express herself. She can use beads to create highly textured, three-dimension works or apply beads to embellish pieces into decorative pieces.

Maria Laura’s work reflects themes of feminine power, nature, and spiritual symbols. She thinks that art should lift our spirits and speed our souls.

All her pieces sparkle and shine and are made from thousands of colorful glass beads which she places by hand and glued down. After the artwork is finished, the piece is secured with a protective finish coat.

Bird in a Branch - Maria Laura Art

Handcrafted bead art

Beads are placed and glued individually over different materials, such as canvas, wood or metal.
Techniques to apply them vary depending on the effect to achieve, such as textures, form, dimension and shading.

The application of thousands of colorful glass beads is a process that could take several hours, weeks and even months. It is a magical and therapeutic process infused with love.
