Meet the artist

Maria Laura Barbato was born in Paysandú, Uruguay in 1969 where she grew up and lived for many years.  In 2012, after a few years of being settled in Miami, FL she decided to pursue a career in which she could make an impact and change lives in a positive way.  Being a pediatric Occupational Therapist it has never felt like a job, it has always been a part of who she is. It was following her passion in a field that encourages creativity that she started to feel a long love affair with the tiny beautiful beads.

Land of Mama Bear - Maria Laura Art

When she started working with the beads her life changed and pushed her headlong to test the depths of her creativity. Intrigued by the possibility of beads and to further develop an understanding of how beads work together,  she started to challenge herself with new techniques. She combines beads and other media materials, to create height, depth, light, contrast and form. Clearly the result of an intense labor guided by the connection between her soul and her passion.

Keen to details, and after developing and mastering new techniques, now she shares her creative talent  to give life to unique 2D and 3D bead mosaics that captivate.

The core of practice of Maria Laura is to bring beads to life. She is passionately and devotedly in love with her beadworks and she truly believes in the idea of using this therapeutic practice to create art as a visual conduit of extra light and positivity to the beholder.
